In may of this year SIFCo successfully completed their first Prescribed Burn (type 4 treatment) in the Winlaw Creek area.

We put together this video in order to give people an insight into what a prescribed burn looks like and what is involved in the process of carrying out our type 4 treatment.

This burn is part of our 'Slocan Valley Landscape Level Strategic Wildfire Protection Plan', which aims to create sufficient fuel breaks across the major fire corridors within the Slocan Valley.

The area burned in this video is a fire dependent ecosystem which relies on low intensity, slow moving fires to stay healthy and strong.
