    Harry Hadikin Doukhobor Craft

    Harry Hadikin takes pride in his work as a hobby craftsman, continuing the traditions of his Doukhabour ancestors by bringing beautiful, handcrafted woodwork to homes in the Slocan Valley for the past 30 years. Items such as authentic hand-made hardwood ladles, salt bowls and everything from baby spoons up to cooking and serving spoons, salad sets, bowls, kitchen utensils and bird feeders are what Harry loves to create. He takes a no-waste policy to his workbench, making as many items as possible out of a single piece of wood. His products are made from a variety of woods including maple, birch, local softwoods, and several fruit and flowering trees such as peach, walnut and lilac. Harry’s work can be found on display at the Deadwood cafe in Greenwood, as well as at local Christmas craft fairs. However, he primarily sells his work through custom orders.     Luc Vreys Wood Sculpture

    Luc Vreys is a wood sculpture and log home builder located in South Slocan. He moved from Belgium with his family 3 years ago where he did chainsaw carving for STIHL Belgium. For his sculptures his primary sources of wood are local stumps that are leftovers in the logging process as well as interestingly shaped logs that are not ideal for traditional timber market production. Sculptures he has produce include different forest animals – bears, deer and woodpeckers and he loves creating woodspirits, caricatures, wildlife scultures and benches.     Treencraft is located in Meadow Creek, BC. Dick Martin crafts beautiful tables, shaker-style chairs, benches and other custom orders with birch, using hand-tool joinery techniques. The birch logs he uses are purchased locally in the Harrop-Proctor region.

    Over the past 30 years What Knot Works has been creating hand-crafted and hand-painted woodwork. Barry and Sally Lamare worked together in their Slocan Valley shops first in Perry Siding and then in New Denver producing a wide variety of wooden products until Barry’s recent passing. Sally continues to make and paint her well known personalized name hangings, magnets, wall hangings, housewares, toy vehicles, signs, furniture and one-of-a-kind artistic pieces. Her products can be found at the Craft Connection in Nelson, the Raven’s Nest Gallery in New Denver and other shops in British Columbia.
